Gratitude

“Gratitude is an essential part of being present. When you go deeply into the present, gratitude arises spontaneously.” Eckhart Tolle

When you’re feeling angry, sad, frustrated, or disappointed, have you noticed that it’s hard to shake it off? Do you ever notice that you’re holding on to those feelings long after a challenging experience? Sound familiar? Place a heart emoji in the comment box if you can relate.

WHY do we experience this? Because the mind is super tricky!

The reality is that feelings are not permanent. They pass, but the EGO wants you to hold on to those EMOTIONS in order to stay in control. The more you allow the EGO or the mind to control you, the more you’ll experience feelings of irritability, anxiousness, stress, and overwhelm.

When you’re not in the PRESENT MOMENT, the mind has taken you into the past or in the future. It’s the ego that is in the way. What if you could let go of the story that you’re telling yourself? I’m not saying to ignore your feelings. Notice your emotions and thoughts, be with them, and then process it in order to let it go.

HERE’S THE SOLUTION: When you “go deeply into the present, gratitude arises spontaneously.” See if you can practice bringing the mind – your focus and attention – to your HEART center. When you’re living life from the heart center, there is nowhere to be but the present moment. That’s when gratitude arises, and the result is feelings of joy, gratitude, appreciation, compassion, and love. Gratitude allows us to move forward in life, but ego holds us back.
